The receptor binding domain of SARS-CoV-2 spike has an amino acid sequence, YQAGS, that closely resembles YQRGS in the C-terminal domain of the prion protein. Antibodies to YQAGS are very effective at protecting from disease, but they could bind to the prion protein through molecular mimicry. It has been shown that antibodies to the C-terminal domain of the prion protein cause an aggressive form of CJD that is not due to prion protein misfolding but rather to its clearance. This also suggests that it is a LOSS of FUNCTION that is more important than a GAIN of FUNCTION, in the process of neurodegeneration in CJD. I think we need to study the general population for presence of prion, amyloid and other prion-like proteins in organs. I am not as optimistic about Omicron having a loss of prion-like properties, yet it does appear to have less, as your paper demonstrates. However, it is more transmissible, which is my concern.
I am not convinced that it is possible to avoid infection at all. But I do believe that a strong regimen of vitamins, supliments, and herbs such as Lomatium, Astragalus, Rhodiola, and Licorice will help greatly in decreasing the severity of the illness and the later recovery. This has been my own personal experience: it kept me away from doctors, out of hospital, and allowed me to have a beautiful recovery with no " long covid" afterwards.

In an article in The Lancet entitled “Past SARS-CoV-2 infection protection against re-infection: a systemic review and meta-analysis,” dated Feb. 16, 2023, Dr. C. Stein showed that natural immunity produced “long term” and “higher” protection against the virus compared to the mRNA injections. The protection for the first month or two is comparable, but mRNA-induced immunity falls off significantly after a few months, while natural immunity wanes slightly in 60 weeks. Even more convincing was another study from The Lancet. An attempt was made to infect people who had covid in the past, in order to test vaccines on people with natural immunity. However, the test had to be abandoned because they couldn’t produce significant symptoms in any of the volunteers—about half suffered a stuffy nose and fatigue. “Despite dose escalation to 1×105 TCID50, we were unable to induce sustained infection in any volunteers.” That’s 10,000 times the normal level of viruses that would cause infection.
