It will be interesting to compare Gadobutrol (Gadovist, contains Tromethamine) and Gadoteric acid (Dotarem, does not contain Tromethamine).
Only Gadobutrol/Gadovist causes immediate severe side effects including Anaphylaxis and skin inflammation.
Tromethamine causes NETosis leading to Cots.
I am chasing more literature on it being known to cause Kidney damage, if anyone has seen references.
I used to make Gadolinium compounds at Monash, so updates on its toxicology are very interesting.
