The Parallel Effects of Ionizing Radiation and a Viral Protein on Mutagenesis and Evolution

I am greatly alarmed as a study of feral dogs living in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone were found to be rapidly mutating/evolving. The reason for the alarm is the WHY! Once again, we find that the Spike Protein of SARS-CoV-2 is MIMICKING IONIZING RADIATION – and in ways that directly cause mutations/evolution.

We found that 52 of the genes had associated Gene Ontology (GO) terms for the molecular functions of gene products that are of interest based on a putative response to the exposures from the Chernobyl disaster. These candidate genes were of particular interest because they are involved in functions such as DNA repair and cell cycle checkpoint progression, immune response, and calcium ion binding.

I do not understand why the paper SARS-CoV-2 Spike Impairs DNA Damage Repair and Inhibits V(D)J Recombination In Vitro was retracted. I have reviewed the paper several times and find the arguments to be backed by solid evidence and argument. I believe the mechanism is, indeed, real. This paper should be reinstated.

Regarding DNA repair, the Spike Protein mimics ionizing radiation:

Here, by using an in vitro cell line, we report that the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein significantly inhibits DNA damage repair, which is required for effective V(D)J recombination in adaptive immunity. Mechanistically, we found that the spike protein localizes in the nucleus and inhibits DNA damage repair by impeding key DNA repair protein BRCA1 and 53BP1 recruitment to the damage site.

Also, viral proteins of SARS-CoV-2 (of which the Spike is certainly one) affect cell cycle progression (and DNA repair).

To further illuminate pathways altered by SARS-CoV-2 infection, we mined the CORUM database for protein complexes consisting mostly of differentially expressed proteins. In total, 27 complexes were found and involved IFN signaling, cell cycle/DNA replication, DNA repair, epigenetic modification, and protein folding/ubiquitination. More than half of the complexes had functions in cell cycle and DNA repair (n = 18).

And, indeed, the Spike Protein affects calcium ion binding.

In coronaviruses, the FP is a highly conserved domain that sits in the center of spike protein and in SARS-CoV, is adjacent to the S2’ proteolytic cleavage site. This peptide contains a hydrophobic LLF motif, as well as several conserved negatively charged amino acids that interact with Ca2+ ions to promote membrane fusion.

Of course, all of the ROS and Senescence that I have discussed and is being observed are also known to be effects of ionizing radiation.

What is the major takeaway here? There is much to learn: Viruses. Drive. Evolution.

Yet, are “they” doing so with manufactured intent?
